Everything you need to know about horse racing betting with Tilt The Odds — from Quality Score and profiles to Telegram and the Value page.
Yes! The page is great for informing your profile setup. If you're seeing consistent green for certain bookmakers, it may be worth prioritising them. Likewise, red ones may be worth skipping for now.
The value data is refreshed live every 30 seconds, so you're always seeing the most up-to-date information available.
You can upgrade anytime from your Settings page. Just scroll to the bottom, click Edit Subscription, and choose the Advanced or Pro plan. Make sure to use the same email you used with Stripe (and check spam/junk folders for the confirmation email).
🟩 Green = High value available. Great time to place bets
🟨 Beige = Some value. Possibly a few good options
🟥 Red = Not enough value. You may want to wait or change profiles
The Where's the Value? page is a live dashboard that shows where the best value bets are currently available across UK and Irish win-only horse racing markets.
This feature is exclusive to Advanced and Pro members. If you're on the Basic plan, you'll need to upgrade your subscription to access it.
If a bookmaker is currently offering little or no value, they'll still appear on the display, just marked in red. This helps you avoid wasting time searching where there's value.
No. Filtering by QS won't meaningfully reduce variance. It only reduces turnover, which may slow long-term profits because you have fewer opportunities to win.
Some practical ways to reduce variance include:
- Lowering stake sizes until your bankroll recovers.
- Increasing the number of bets per day (aim for 20–30) while keeping stakes smaller.
- Turning off repeats for the short term.
- Using default filters and combining value bets with Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) where possible.
Tools like the "Where is the Value?" heatmap and Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) help you identify the best bookmakers, times, and value bets giving you the best chance to maximise long-term profits despite variance.
You can read more about BOG, which bookmakers offer it, and how to use it effectively in our blog: Best Odds Guaranteed Guide | Which Bookies offer BOG?
Low volume makes variance feel worse. Aim for at least 20–30 bets per day with smaller stakes to help smooth out short-term swings.
Many bookmakers offer a one winner bonus on Lucky 15s.
Betfred offer treble odds, while plenty of others offer double, including Bet365, Betway, Betvickers, Boylesports, Dragonbet, Gentlemanjim, NRGbet, Octobet, Planetsportbet and Williamhill.
Our bet suggestions are good value and you have to be quick as the bookies can be pretty sharp at cutting their prices.
You might think it is better not to take the bet if one of more prices have been cut but, surprisingly, that is not always the case as the bet may still be good value. Here at Tilt the Odds, our experts can advise you when to tolerate a price cut and when to just move on to the next bet generation.
Once we've calculated the QS, we have a set of policy rules - for example, a bet recommendation may have to fall within a certain range of odds, the VP may have to be above a certain percentage, and there may have to be a certain amount of money in the exchange market, etc.
If a selection makes it through all the checks, it would go onto a list of possibles, which we would sort, and it may make it into a recommended bet.
QS (Quality Score) is based on the principles of credit scoring. I.e. which variables and what values of those variables are important in determining outcome (in this case, value).
Some important examples would be weight of money on the exchanges, odds movements, and what money has matched previously on the exchanges.
Rule 4 deductions happen when a horse is withdrawn from a race, and the odds of the remaining horses change. To keep things fair, bookmakers reduce the payout to reflect the new odds.
For a detailed explanation, check out our blog on Rule 4 Deductions.
There are many types of horse racing bets, like single bets (picking one horse to win) and more complex ones like Trixie or Lucky 15, where you combine multiple bets to increase your chances of winning.
Check out our blog on Different Types of Horse Racing Bets for a full list.
QS stands for Quality Score - this is much more complicated and far more significant than VP (Value Percent) in determining whether we recommend a bet. Throughout the day, we are constantly recalculating the QS for every horse still to run on that day.
VP stands for Value Percent and is calculated by dividing the bookmaker odds by the exchange lay odds and multiplying by 100.
Bets are faster on Pro Subscription, not just delivered quicker.
With Pro, you're notified the moment a bet becomes available, giving you a head start on value before odds move. There's no waiting for the next search cycle, as soon as a qualifying bet exists, it's sent straight to Telegram.
On the standard version, bets are found by checking at intervals. That means a bet could exist for several seconds before it appears. Pro removes that delay, helping you get in earlier and more consistently.

It will always start again from the top. Ordered search means the system will begin with your number 1 priority every time. If it finds a bet there, it stops and resets back to number 1 on the next run. If it doesn't find anything, it continues working through your list in the exact order you set until it finds a bet.
Yes. On the Advanced plan, you can assign search order to both bookmakers and the bet types under them. This is great if, for example, you want to check for patents before Lucky 15s.
🔒 Advanced plan only
Yes, you can manually adjust the odds on your bet record to ensure the winnings reflect your actual returns. Please note that if you update the odds, the changes will take effect during the hourly refresh.
This allows you to adjust for things like Rule 4 deductions or best odds guarantees, making your records more accurate.
Yes, you can now choose to enable or disable repeat selections. If you enable the "No Repeat Selections" option, you won't see the same horses appearing in multiple suggested bets.
Currently, the number of searches is capped based on your subscription plan:
- Basic plan: Up to 5 combinations per run
- Advanced plan: Up to 10 combinations per run
These limits are in place to maintain system performance and speed. We may explore increasing this in the future depending on demand and stability but for now, sticking to these limits ensures smooth and efficient results for everyone.
Yes, you can now override the odds for each bet type. While we provide minimum and maximum odds values based on tested strategies, you have the flexibility to adjust them within these limits.
No. 3 is the maximum repeat runners you can set, and this applies within a single bet (i.e., within one Lucky 15).
Here's how it works:
- If you set it higher than 3, anything above that is ignored.
- For example, in a Lucky 15, you can have up to 3 repeat runners.
- In a Trixie or Patent, only 2 repeat runners are possible – even if you set the limit to 3, it'll only allow the max for that bet type.
Example:
If you set it to 2, you'll only ever get a max of 2 repeated horses in each generated bet – even in a Lucky 15.
Yes! You can show all bookmakers in a single profile and simply deselect bet types if you don't want them to count toward your search combinations. This is great for quick adjustments without creating multiple profiles.
No! Profiles are available to all users. However, priority search and 10 search combinations per run are only available on the Advanced plan.
Yes, you must place the bet yourself. The system will provide you with betting recommendations, but you are responsible for actually placing the bet with your chosen bookmaker.
Currently, our tracking doesn't support Each Way (E/W) bets. Our strategy focuses on finding good value in the win market. However, we may introduce E/W in the future as we continue to evolve our platform.
It varies depending on the bookmaker. Some do offer Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) with Lucky 15 boosts, while others do not. At the moment, you'll need to check the individual T&C's of each bookmaker for confirmation.
In the meantime, if you're unsure, feel free to ask around the Discord community, as other members might know specific details.
Yes, even if you press the play button, it will always start from your number 1 priority and work down the list in the order you've set. If you don't have a specific priority in mind and want to make sure you're not missing value elsewhere, it's totally fine to leave it on random
No, the system does not place bets for you. It only provides advice or suggestions on potential bets, but you need to place the bets manually.
Enabling Repeat Runners doesn't change your profit percentage, but it increases variance. It helps generate more bets, which means higher turnover, and with higher turnover, you can achieve more overall profit over time.
If you prefer a steadier approach with fewer bets and lower variance, it's fine to leave Repeat Runners off. But if you're aiming to maximise turnover and don't mind more fluctuation in results, turning them on is a good choice.
We've introduced the ability to create multiple profiles, allowing you to switch between different betting strategies with ease. To create a new profile, simply name it, then select bookmakers from the dropdown and click "Add Bookie."
Simply go to your currently active profile and toggle the "No Repeat Selections" option. Once applied, your profile will filter out repeat selections from the suggested bets.
- Keep it to 5 bookies. On the Basic plan, only 5 bookie/bet type combinations are searched per run, so limiting your profile ensures they're all checked. On Advanced, you can include up to 10, just remember only the first 10 combinations (in your chosen order) will be searched if using priority mode.
- Pick the best ones. Choose bookies you know offer good value and frequent bets.
- Monitor and adjust. Regularly check the performance of your selected bookies and make adjustments as necessary. If a bookie isn't providing value, consider replacing it with another.
If you wish to revert to our recommended odds, simply click the "Reset Parameters" button. This will restore your odds customisation settings to the default values suggested by our expert strategies.
Simply type "Pending" in the search bar, and all pending races will appear at the top, making it easy to track your open bets.
Advanced users can assign priority numbers to each bookmaker and bet type using toggles in the profile editor. Searches will run in this exact order.
You'll need to upgrade to the Advanced plan. You can do this anytime from your Settings page by clicking Edit Subscription and choosing Tilt Advanced.
Priorities affect the order in which bet types are searched, not which bets are shown overall. If you've selected multiple bet types and prioritised, say, Lucky 15s over Patents, the system will check for a Lucky 15 first.
If both a Lucky 15 and a Patent are available, you'll be shown the Lucky 15. If only the Patent is available, then that's what will be shown. Prioritisation helps guide which bet gets shown first when multiple options exist.
Each search run checks a limited number of bookie/bet type combinations, not just bookies or bet types individually.
- On the Basic plan, we search up to 5 combinations per run.
- On the Advanced plan, that increases to 10 combinations, with the option to prioritise the order.
💡 Example: If you have 5 bet types selected for one bookie, that's your full allowance on the Basic plan. If you add bet types from another bookie, we'll randomly pick 5 of all available combinations each time, so not all will be searched.
To avoid missing out on key combinations, be intentional about what you include, or use prioritisation (Advanced only) to ensure your top combos are searched first.
Keeping around 5 bookies active is ideal. Having too many can actually make it harder to find good bets.
- Basic plan: 5 combinations per run (randomly selected).
- Advanced plan: 10 combinations per run, using either random or ordered search.
We recommend adding up to 5 bookmakers and bet types combined for each profile. This keeps things manageable and ensures smoother betting experiences. Once you've selected your preferred bookies and bet types, don't forget to click the "Save" button at the bottom to confirm your choices.
There's no limit to the number of profiles you can create. You can tailor each one to a different strategy, bookmaker set, or time of day.
The daily tracker, located at the bottom of the page, updates every 10 minutes and refreshes automatically each time you load the page.
Yes, the order of bet types matters. When the system searches, it will go through your prioritised bookies first, and within each bookie, it will search your selected bet types in the order you set.
So if "Bookie 1" has both Singles and Lucky 15s selected, and Singles are prioritised, the system will show you a Single if it finds one, even if a Lucky 15 is also available. It won't continue searching other bet types for that bookie once a valid bet is found.
Prioritising bookmakers is generally more impactful than bet type prioritisation, as it helps ensure you're getting bets from the places that matter most to you.
However, bet type prioritisation still adds value, especially if you want more control over what's being searched first, rather than relying on randomness. For example, if you prioritise Patents over Lucky 15s, and both are available, you'll be shown the Patent, which might be harder to find and more desirable. If a Patent isn't available, the system will fall back to the Lucky 15.
This can be particularly useful when you want specific bet types from certain bookies for instance, preferring Doubles at a particular bookie but still accepting a Lucky 15 if no Doubles are found. Without prioritisation, the system just shows the first available match, so you might get a Lucky 15 even if a Double (which you'd prefer) wasn't checked yet.
In short: prioritisation ensures you're not missing out on your preferred bet types, even if bookie priority does most of the heavy lifting.
Yes, there are two ways to reset your bets feed:
It's not possible for us to calculate your Rule 4 deductions . Also, we can't adjust winnings for any Best Odds Guarantee as we have no way of knowing whether your bookmaker account has it.
If you wait until the next day, you'll be able to manually adjust the winnings on your bet to reflect these factors.
Each bookmaker and bet type pairing is a separate combination.
Example: William Hill Lucky 15 = 1 combination.
So, if you choose 5 bookies and 5 bet types each, that's 25 combinations, but only 5 (Basic) or 10 (Advanced) will be searched per run.
🟢 Important for all users to understand
If you've enabled the Repeat Runners option, the Max Repeat Runners setting lets you control how many times the same selection can appear in your generated bets per bookmaker
Please note: This is max number of repeats in a single bet, if you set this to 1, you'll have maximum 1 horse you've bet on previously appear in new bets for example
When you edit a bet and mark it as 'rejected,' it will no longer be included in any of your future analysis.
Only the first 5 combinations (Base plan) or 10 combinations (Advanced plan) will be searched per run.
If you're using ordered search on Advanced, only the first 10 in your priority order will be used, the rest will be skipped.
If you forget to place the bet, it won't be placed automatically. Always ensure you manually place your bets after receiving recommendations.
Searches are based on bookie + bet type combinations, not bookies alone.
- On the Basic plan, up to 5 combinations are searched per run.
- On the Advanced plan, that increases to 10 combinations.
If you activate more combinations than your plan allows, only a subset will be searched each time, either randomly (Basic) or in the order you've set (Advanced).
✅ Tip: To ensure all your preferred bookies are checked every time:
- Keep your combinations within your plan's limit
- Limit to 5 bookies (with 1 bet type each), or
- Use prioritisation on Advanced to control which get searched first
That can happen. For example, if Bookie 1 has lots of Singles available, and Singles are your first bet type, you might rarely see Lucky 15s, even if they're selected. To avoid this, you could deselect Singles, or switch to a profile with a different prioritisation.
However, it's worth noting that data from bookies updates randomly, and we only serve bets with fresh data (within a few seconds).
This means even if Bookie 1 has loads of Singles, there will be brief periods where that data is no longer valid, allowing the system to move on and find L15s from another bookie. The search interval is faster than the data expiry, so you won't get stuck on one bet type forever.
The tracker at the top of the page shows your total bets for all time, while the tracker at the bottom only displays your daily bets. The daily tracker updates every 10 minutes to show your current profit for the day.
At the time you are deciding to place a bet, it's impossible to predict whether the odds will increase or decrease in the future. Our system provides you with what we believe is good value at that moment. However, the type of bet should influence your decision:
- For singles, it's generally advisable not to tolerate a drop in odds.
- For a Lucky 15, you might still place the bet even if one horse's odds drop, depending on the size of the drop. For example, if a horse's odds drop from 9/1 to 17/2, it might still be worth taking, particularly if you're betting with a bookie that offers a 'one winner' concession or a best odds guarantee.
Stake Defaults and Profile Defaults are now on separate tabs for easier navigation. You can now choose to allow Repeat Runners, and if enabled, the Max Repeat Runners setting lets you define how many times the same runner can appear within a single bet.
Multiple profiles let you quickly switch between different strategies (e.g. singles, multis, soft bookies only). This saves time and helps you stay organised across accounts or betting approaches.
Random search (available to all users) runs your selected combinations in no particular order.
Ordered search (Advanced plan only) lets you set the exact order of bookmakers and bet types. The system follows your priority list, searching from top to bottom.
We only generate bets for the current day from 7:00 a.m.
The Winnings displayed in your bet record are estimated figures based on the odds at the time of placing the bet. They do not account for certain factors that might affect your final payout, such as:
Rule 4 Deductions: In the event of a non-runner, Rule 4 deductions may be applied, which will reduce your winnings. This is an industry-standard adjustment made by bookmakers. For a more detailed explanation of Rule 4 and how it works, you can check out our Rule 4 blog here.
Guaranteed Prices: If your bookmaker offers a Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) policy, your payout could be higher if the Starting Price (SP) is better than the odds you initially took. However, this is not reflected in the 'Winnings' estimate.
We aim to provide as accurate an estimate as possible, but always check your final settlement with the bookmaker for any adjustments.
Our system randomly picks up to 5 combinations of bookies and bet types to check each time. If you have more than 5, some might get skipped in a search but checked next time.
The tracker at the top of the page is updated only if it is over an hour old when you load the page. This is because it tracks all of your bets, and for users with thousands of bets, refreshing this constantly would slow down the page.
If you are placing singles, that is possible. If you are placing multiples, we place a limit on how many of the same combination of horses can be generated so we won't have lots of users placing, for example, the same four horses at the same bookmaker in a Lucky 15 or Yankee.
